The Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts has announced that the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has officially presented the newly appointed Head Coach of the Copper Queens, Ms. Nora Hauptle, to the government.
During the presentation on January 24, 2025, Hon. Elvis C. Nkandu, Minister of Youth, Sport, and Arts, expressed the government’s gratitude to FAZ for their dedication to the growth of women’s football and for appointing a coach with a proven track record. “After careful discussions with FAZ, we recognized the need for tactical refinement to complement the immense talent we have as a country. Nora Hauptle emerged as the best candidate to fill that gap. We believe she is well-equipped to take the Copper Queens to the next level and build on the incredible achievements of her predecessor, Bruce Mwape,” said Hon. Nkandu.
The Minister commended FAZ for the significant progress made in uplifting women’s football and reaffirmed the government’s full support for the new coach and the team. “As a government, we are committed to providing the necessary support for the Copper Queens to thrive. What we need are results, and with those results, you will earn the admiration and support of fans and stakeholders across the country.”
Speaking during the presentation, Ms. Nora Hauptle expressed her excitement about the opportunity to lead one of Africa’s most promising women’s teams. “I understand that expectations are high, but pressure is my breakfast. I will handle it. I see immense potential in the team, and I am committed to working hard and treating the players well. Together, we can achieve greater heights,” Hauptle stated.
She emphasized her focus on guiding the Copper Queens to not only deliver results but also to create an environment that fosters growth and excellence on and off the pitch. “With the upcoming WAFCON in July, we must set our sights higher. We have reached the semifinals before, and now our target is the final.”
