Republican President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force Dr Hakainde Hichilema has appointed Major General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele as new Commander Zambia Army and subsequently promoted him to the rank of Lieutenant General.
President Hichilema has further appointed Brigadier General Luswepo Sinyinza as Zambia Army Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, and has since promoted him to the rank of Major General.
Lt Gen Zyeele was until his appointment serving as Deputy Army Commander and Chief of Staff while Maj Gen Sinyinza was serving as Director General of Zambia Army Civil Military Affairs Branch.
The two Generals have since been sworn-in at State House today, 12 September, 2024.
Dr Hakainde Hichilema has relieved Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi of his duties as Commander Zambia Army and has since congratulated him on his distinguished career in the Zambia Army. The President has wished Lt Gen Alibuzwi God's blessings as he awaits deployment into diplomatic service.
