Chella Tukuta, a well-known photographer and staunch UPND supporter, has lambasted former President Edgar Lungu, calling him a hypocrite with a short memory. Tukuta, who affectionately refers to himself as President Hichilema's "young brother," questioned Lungu's recent outcry, given his own history of suppressing opposition and human rights during his presidency.
Tukuta emphasized that under President Hichilema's leadership, every Zambian is now enjoying their human rights, and no one is a victim of human rights abuse, as was the case under Lungu's rule. He praised President Hichilema's strength, noting that if Lungu had faced a president with a similar character, he would not have survived ¹.
Tukuta's scathing critique highlighted several instances of Lungu's alleged abuses, including:
- *Police brutality*: Lungu's administration was accused of teargassing and shooting opposition supporters, including those at HH's residence.
- *Youth marginalization*: Lungu's government labeled youths as "disgruntled," dismissing their concerns and aspirations.
- *Violence against opponents*: Tukuta cited instances of violence, maiming, and killing of political opponents, including notable cases like Mapenzi, Nsama Nsama, Joseph Kaunda, and Lawrence Banda.
- *Restrictions on movement and freedom*: Lungu's administration allegedly restricted HH's movement, occupying both air and ground space, and preventing him from campaigning freely.
- *Media censorship*: Lungu's government closed media houses, infringing on the freedom of information and stifling opposition voices.

Chellah Tukuta 's statement echoed the sentiments of many who have criticized Lungu's legacy, including concerns about his commitment to democracy and human rights.
